Great music with just beats in them and sounds is great, but if a song has great lyrics, it is truly something great. Now that I think about it, their are not that many songs that do that, and definitely not that many artists. Combining lyrics and music is not an art but rather something that comes from your heart that makes it divine art.
Some artists that I can think of is 2pac, Johnny Cash (He has some amazing haunting lyrics), Nine Inch Nails and handful of others. What great lyrics can do to a song is get you emotionally involved not just through the music but the lyrics too. Now the artist have you in their total control and has two great weapons that are holding you to listen to their piece of work.
Lyrics don’t matter but great lyrics do. Sometimes if you can’t remember the name of the song, you can just think of the lyrics and do a search on google and find them. Besides that obvious fact, lyrics can sometime make or break a song. Just look at how rap music got started, it wasn’t the beats, it was all about the lyrics. Now the trend is a little different because now it seems like the emphasis is on the beat more rather than the lyrics.
From rap music to rock to pretty much anything that is out there, lyrics sometime really get to you and songs that have that are simply really powerful pieces of art. One thing that I recently wanted to do was learn as many languages as I can because every culture has their own style of lyrics. I mean if you want to get the full meaning out of it, but that is again what’s amazing about music, you don’t need to know, you just need to hear it.
See everything only matters if you think it matters. Do good lyrics make a good beat even better? Naturally yes, but if the meaning is something you can’t relate to, than it doesn’t matter. Just take some of the songs out there, some people love the lyrics and some are like what the heck is that crap? See if it matters to you, than it matters.
