Gifts For The Cook

Do you have a cook in your family? While cooking is not my passion, I do enjoy it. And there is nothing like a new gadget or a new recipe to get me inspired to spend some more time in the kitchen. Gifts for the kitchen are quite common for wedding and bridal shower gifts, but they also make good gifts for all occasions, especially for a person who enjoys the art of cooking.

Most moms today spend more time baking than they do with elaborate dinner parties. For these bakery chefs a new cookie sheet or cup cake pan will probably get more use. But some dedicated souls love to put on a fancy dinner party and for them a new Calaphon pan may be the cat’s meow.

Every cook appreciates a new cookbook as a gift. Find one that matches their interest. If they love to bake, find one on deserts. If they love Italian or Chinese food, find a cookbook that is dedicated to foods of the respective regions. All cooks prefer cookbooks with pictures of the finished dishes. The best cookbooks have very high quality photographs that are very artistic to look at.

Even an accomplished cook with a well heeled kitchen can alway accommodate a new knife. Knives, even the expensive ones, have a limited life. They can only be sharpened a set number of times before they need to be replaced. If you purchase a knife for a cook be sure to know their knife preference (brand) and get them some knife they are missing in the collection. Also consider a knife block as a gift to keep knives handy, yet safely stored.

If your cooking friend loves to cook organically, consider a gift of high quality organic goods. Some unusual items could be some organic pastas with organic spaghetti sauce and some organic Parmesan cheese.

A great mother’s day gift is to have your kids cook something for you. One way to make sure that doesn’t turn out to be a disaster is to give your kids cookware that accommodates their needs. This can include kid sized aprons, spatulas and plastic mixing bowls.

One of the best ideas for a new home is a housewarming gift for the kitchen. Good cooks will totally go wild over new kitchen accessories that match the new decor.
